Ascorbic Acid, better known as Vitamic C, is a powerful antioxidant and will extend the shelf life of packaged beer and wine. Ascorbic Acid may be used during the mash for the purposes of minimising hot side aeration for LODO brewing, or during end-of-ferment/packaging to inhibit dissolved oxygen pickup.
Usage rate: We recommend an addition of 2 to 3g per 20L of beer. Ascorbic acid should also be used in conjunction with Potassium Metabisulphite for its anti-oxidative properties to be effective. When adding ascorbic acid, use with half the measured dose of potassium metabisulphite, ie. if you were to use 2g of Ascorbic Acid, also use 1g of Potassium Metabisulphite.
