Hibiscus will add a stunning deep magenta colour when used as a gin infusion. The drying process concentrates the aroma, creating an intense earthiness reminiscent of cumin and sumac. Use during distillation to lend a bright tartness or steep to contribute colour and a mild sweetness.
Every distillery has its secret mix of botanicals. Besides Juniper Berry, most Gins contain citrus botanicals such as lemon and bitter orange peel, anise, angelica root and seed, orris root, licorice root, cinnamon, cubeb, savoury, lime peel, grapefruit peel.
