Widely used though often as a background character, Orris has a hugely floral aroma and a sweetness reminiscent of boiled candy or licorice. Orris root will greatly enhance the texture and mouthfeel of your gin. Orris and Angelica Root may be used interchangeably.
Every distillery has its secret mix of botanicals. Besides Juniper Berry, most Gins contain citrus botanicals such as lemon and bitter orange peel, anise, angelica root and seed, orris root, licorice root, cinnamon, cubeb, savoury, lime peel, grapefruit peel.
