In the American “Old West” sarsaparilla was the most popular drink of the cowboys. It is the key ingredient in Root Beer due to its bold bitter taste profile. This ground, dried root can also be used as an ingredient in liqueurs and other spirits.

Every distillery has its secret mix of botanicals. Besides Juniper Berry, most Gins contain citrus botanicals such as lemon and bitter orange peel, anise, angelica root and seed, orris root, licorice root, cinnamon, cubeb, savoury, lime peel, grapefruit peel.
