Crystal Malt – Medium (Floor Malted) (AMSAT)

The next step up, medium crystal brings a heavier caramel and toffee note that is right at home with English style cask ales, milds and bitters. It also excels as an ingredient in red ales and bigger beers such as barleywines. Like the light crystal the flavour is perceivably sweet but not cloying. Our medium crystal can provide the backbone to many winter warming and bigger beer styles.

USAGE RATE: It is best utilised up to 25% of the grist.
AROMA: HONEY | DRIED FRUIT | RAISIN
FLAVOUR: DEEPER CARAMEL | TOFFEE | DRIED FRUIT
FUNCTION: Adds unfermentable sugars, increases body slightly as a good counterbalance to bitterness in traditional beer styles.
